Moreover, in Japanese the word "chopstick" is pronounced the same way as the word "bridge", which is also symbolic, strengthening the bond between husband and wife.
These chopsticks are made of very hard wood from the willow family and are covered with wild cherry bark when held in the hand.
They are pleasant to the touch and are very well balanced. The bark was applied with the "Kabazaiku" bark working technique of the Denshiro house dating back to 1851, and has been passed down for six generations. The bark of wild cherry is harvested in a way that allows regeneration so as not to interfere with the growth of the trees.
